Faith Matters

Our Vision for Biblical Fiction

Faith Journeys seeks to deliver entertaining and inspirational stories based on biblical characters and events. While each of our authors believes in the veracity and authority of the Bible, the stories we publish are fictionalized accounts. As such, Faith Journeys stories do not take the place of scripture, rather they creatively explore areas that fit within the biblical milieu and Christian worldview. The stories are not necessarily historically accurate. Authors may use modern language, terms and concepts in order to convey the struggles and growth in their characters.

When quoting the actual words from God or from Jesus (as recorded in the biblical text), our authors are committed to honoring the written record and the context of these words. And while the stories we publish may contain what might be considered adult material (as found in the Bible itself), the story telling will strive not to exceed what many refer to as PG.

Our Doctrinal Position

We hold to the central and traditional doctrines of the Christian faith.* However, authors who write for Faith Journeys come from a variety of backgrounds, churches, and denominational traditions. We ask that our authors tell stories that will appeal to a wide variety of readers, and not intentionally promote a particular denominational position.

We hold to the authority of the Bible (as comprised by the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments); and believe it is God’s written word, inspired by the Holy Spirit, without error in all that it teaches, and is a trustworthy guide for all of humanity.

We hold that God created the universe, and that God (who is not bound by time or creation) exists eternally as three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We hold that Jesus Christ, God’s Son, died on the cross for the salvation of the world, that he physically rose from the dead and will physically return for his church; and that salvation is found only in and through the person of Jesus Christ.

* Traditional Christianity is commonly understood as being both evangelical and orthodox. These terms, without capitalization, do not refer to a political position or a specific ecumenical tradition. Faith Journeys adheres to the mainstream evangelical and orthodox beliefs of the historic universal Church.

Our Expectations For Our Authors

We ask that our authors sign an affirmation of faith similar to ours, particularly with respect to the truth and authority of scripture, the nature of God and His relation to the universe, and the saving nature of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Some of our writers also believe the books of the Apocrypha are also the inspired word of God.
